Urban Guild announce charity partnership with Dorset Children’s Foundation
Urban Guild are proud to announce their charity partnership with the Dorset Children’s Foundation (DCF). The local restaurant and hotel group have chosen to help the Boscombe and Southbourne based local charity to help improve the lives of local sick and disabled children in Dorset.
The Foundation’s motto is ‘big enough to make a difference, small enough to care’ which is something that touched Urban Guild’s owner Mark Cribb – “I’m always a bit cynical about charities as some of them spend too much on admin and wages but the Dorset Children’s Foundation are doing amazing stuff at minimum cost, where every penny that gets donated goes to the kids. It’s the little things that change children’s lives and we’re going to be working with them to help improve the lives of local sick and disabled children.”
The DCF have three successful charity shops in Bournemouth which cover all their modest overheads, so every single penny that is donated goes to helping the children. They provide more than medical care and facilities – they provide the chance for children to have a great quality of life, sadly in some cases, only for a limited amount of time.
Patsy Hallmey – a trustee of the charity said: “We are thrilled and excited to have Urban Guild as one of our charity partners. As a well-loved local company, we believe they will greatly help move the charity forward with their support. The more poorly children we can help the better. Mark Cribb from Urban Guild really understood our ethics as we’re not corporate and we deal directly with children, parents, hospitals and surgeons to do whatever is necessary and possible to help enhance every step pf the way.”
The DCF donations help sick children to gain improved movement, overcome isolation, which in turn benefit their self-esteem and helps them to play a larger part in the society around them, be that with family or at school.
